How to pair your garage door with your 2021 Hyundai Elantra (with pictures)

July 1st, 2021 by

You’ll need: your garage door opener, a ladder or step stool underneath the garage door motor unit, your vehicle parked outside the garage doors, and an extra person if you need help moving in and out of your garage quickly (from the motor to your car in 30 seconds or less)

Step 1

Get inside of your vehicle, turn it on, and close your garage door using the opener.

You will need to clear any stored codes in the Homelink that have been used previously. To do this, push and hold the two outside buttons located under the rearview mirror on the driver’s side for about 30 seconds. As you’re holding those buttons, an orange light will appear and start flashing green. The green light indicates that the codes are cleared and it is ready to be programmed.

Step 2

Take your garage door remote and hold it about two inches away from the Homelink buttons.

Push and hold the button on the garage door remote and the Homelink button at the same time. While you are pushing the buttons, you should see an orange, slow-blinking light. Keep holding the buttons until you see that light flash green. The green light indicates that your garage door remote is now paired with the Homelink button.

If your garage door unit is an older model, with a non-rolling code, that is all that you need to do in order to pair your garage to your 2021 Hyundai Elantra. (Garage doors that are made before 1996 are typically a non-rolling code unit.) However, if the model in your home is newer, it will have rolling codes, and require the next step.

Step 3

Locate the “Learn/Program” button on your garage door motor unit. The location and name of the learn/program button are unique from model to model. You may need to consult your garage door owner’s manual to find it.

Once located, you or your helper needs to push the “Learn/Program” button on the unit. You have about 30 seconds to get back into your vehicle and press the Homelink button in the following sequence to pair the devices.

Once you’re in the vehicle, press the Homelink button in the sequence as follows:

Push and hold for two seconds, release.
Push and hold for two seconds, release.
Push and hold it for two seconds, release.

That should successfully pair your Hyundai 2021 Elantra.

We hope that this has helped you to pair your garage door to the Homelink in your vehicle! If you have any questions, please reach out to your sales consultant or call Findlay Hyundai at 435-688-7272, and we would love to help.
